Staff Accountant

About the Role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and supporting the month-end close process for multiple law firm clients. You’ll work closely with fellow accountants and client contacts to deliver timely, accurate financial information while helping law firms make informed business decisions.

This position reports to the Accounting Director and collaborates with our accounting, billing, payroll, and accounts payable teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records
  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other general ledger accounts
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for assigned clients
  • Analyze financial data and investigate variances, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Manage multiple client accounts and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Review accounts receivable, accounts payable, and trust activity to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to answer accounting questions and resolve issues promptly
  • Generate recurring and ad hoc financial reports to support client needs
  • Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide support for special projects and other accounting responsibilities as assigned

What You Bring / Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent accounting experience)
  • 1+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements
  • Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Public accounting or outsourced accounting experience
  • Law firm accounting experience
  • Experience with SurePoint Finance Enterprise (LMS), Orion, Centerbase, or similar accounting software
  • Experience working with multiple clients or entities simultaneously
