Professional Experience

Robert Morris College, BS Accounting
Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP (now Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP)
Holland & Knight, LLP

Heather’s first accounting job was as an entry level accounting clerk at Gardner Carton – a lot of filing work, scanning and pitching in as needed. She later rotated through accounts payable, client billing and general accounting, and then transferred to payroll, all the while accumulating a comprehensive understanding of accounting department procedures. After GCD’s merger with Drinker Biddle, Heather joined Holland & Knight as Accounting Manager with responsibility for partner-level accounting – capital accounts and both qualified and non-qualified retirement plan accounting. At the time the firm had nearly 600 active and retired partners and required significant one-on-one interaction explaining complex personal financial transactions. At 4L, Heather is operation lead for all Tampa-based client billing and general accounting activities and is responsible for onboarding new law firms into the 4L fold.

Get to Know Our Team

KNOWN FOR: Juggling a lot of projects; solving problems with and for others.

MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW: Heather played “professional” (albeit unpaid) tackle football for the Chicago Force in the Independent Women’s Football League (running back; wide receiver).

BLOCKS SHE’S BEEN AROUND: Chicago, Tampa, a lot of crazy general ledgers; and even crazier e-billing sites.

QUOTE: I’ve played a lot of organized sports – football, softball, even kickball – and learned early on that if I wasn’t having fun, I was probably on the wrong team. Work is like that, it should be fun and I love my work. I have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of law firms, lawyers and administrators. Each firm is different, yet each is alike. So many challenges … problems to solve …  learning new things every day. It is a tremendous way to spend a career.
